Take-Home Salary Calculator
About the Take-Home Salary Calculator
Your take-home (in-hand) salary is what reaches your bank account after deductions — always less than your CTC, which also includes employer costs like their PF share and gratuity. This calculator bridges the gap from CTC to monthly in-hand pay.
It removes the employer's PF and gratuity to get your gross, then deducts your own PF, professional tax and income tax. The result is an estimate that depends on how your basic salary is structured.
Frequently asked questions
How is take-home salary calculated from CTC?
Start with CTC, subtract employer-side costs (their 12% PF and about 4.81% gratuity on basic) to get gross salary, then subtract your own PF, professional tax and income tax. What is left is your in-hand pay.
Why is my in-hand salary so much lower than my CTC?
Because CTC includes amounts you never receive directly — the employer's PF contribution, gratuity provision and sometimes insurance — plus your own deductions for PF and tax. The bigger these are, the wider the gap.
What is professional tax?
A small tax levied by some states on salaried income, capped at ₹2,500 a year (this calculator assumes ₹2,400). A few states do not levy it at all, so your actual figure may differ.
Does the tax regime change my take-home pay?
Yes. The new and old regimes tax income differently, so the income-tax deduction — and therefore your in-hand pay — depends on which you choose. Compare them with our Income Tax calculator.
Can I increase my take-home salary?
Within the same CTC, structure matters — components like reimbursements or NPS can be more tax-efficient than fully taxable allowances. The right mix depends on your situation, so treat this as an estimate, not advice.
