GST Calculator
About the GST Calculator
Goods and Services Tax (GST) is the indirect tax added to most goods and services in India. This calculator works both ways: add GST to a base (exclusive) amount to get the final price, or remove GST from a GST-inclusive price to find the base value and the tax inside it.
Pick the GST rate that applies to your item and the calculator splits out the GST amount and the net or gross figure.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add GST to an amount?
Multiply the base amount by the GST rate: GST = amount × rate ÷ 100, and the final price = amount + GST. For example, ₹1,000 at 18% adds ₹180, for ₹1,180.
How do I remove GST from an inclusive price?
Work backwards: base = inclusive amount × 100 ÷ (100 + rate). For ₹1,180 at 18%, the base is ₹1,000 and the GST inside it is ₹180.
What are the GST rate slabs in India?
The common GST rates are 0%, 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%, depending on the goods or service; most services fall under 18%. Check the notified rate for your specific item, as classifications can change.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST and IGST?
For a sale within a state, GST is split equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state) — so 18% is 9% + 9%. For a sale between states the same total is charged as a single IGST. The total tax is the same either way.
Is GST calculated on the discounted price?
Yes. GST applies to the price after any discount shown on the invoice, not the original marked price.
