Systematic Investment Plan Systematic Investment Plan (SIP)

A method of investing a fixed amount in a mutual fund at regular intervals.

A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) lets investors put a fixed amount — as low as ₹100 — into a mutual fund at a chosen frequency (weekly, monthly, quarterly). Because you buy more units when the NAV is low and fewer when it is high, SIPs naturally average the purchase cost over time (rupee-cost averaging). SIPs have become a primary channel through which Indian retail investors participate in equity markets, and monthly SIP flows are tracked as an indicator of domestic retail sentiment.
