Return on Capital Employed Return on Capital Employed (ROCE)
Operating profit earned per rupee of total capital — debt plus equity.
Return on capital employed (ROCE) measures how productively a company uses all the capital at its disposal — both equity and debt: ROCE = EBIT ÷ Capital Employed × 100, where capital employed is total assets minus current liabilities. A capital-intensive Nifty 50 infrastructure company with an ROCE of 12% is generating ₹12 for every ₹100 deployed. ROCE is particularly useful for comparing companies in sectors like cement, steel, and telecom where large debt loads are common.
Return on capital employed (ROCE)
