An option chain is a live matrix showing every available strike for a given underlying and expiry — bid/ask, last price, open interest, and implied volatility for both calls and puts side by side. Traders study the NSE Nifty chain to spot OI concentration: heavy call OI implies resistance; heavy put OI implies support. The max-pain level — the strike where the most options expire worthless — is read from the chain and watched as a target near expiry.
