A mechanism for existing large shareholders to sell their stake in a listed company through the stock exchange. किसी listed कंपनी में बड़े मौजूदा shareholders को stock exchange के ज़रिए अपनी हिस्सेदारी बेचने का तरीक़ा।
An offer for sale (OFS) lets promoters, government entities, or other large shareholders in a listed company sell their existing shares directly on the exchange platform without the company raising any fresh capital. The company itself receives nothing; only the selling shareholder benefits. The government frequently uses OFS to divest stakes in public-sector undertakings on NSE/BSE. Retail investors get a price floor (at or below the discovered clearing price) and a reserved quota of shares.
