The Nifty 50 is the flagship index of the National Stock Exchange, comprising 50 blue-chip companies across 13 sectors weighted by free-float market capitalisation. It serves as the reference rate for index funds, ETFs, and F&O contracts, and is widely used to gauge the health of Indian equity markets. The Nifty 50 is also the basis for NSE's weekly index-options contract. Its composition is reviewed semi-annually by NSE Indices Limited.
