Limit Order Limit Order

An order to buy or sell only at a specified price or better.

A limit order lets you set the maximum price you will pay (for a buy) or the minimum price you will accept (for a sell). The order sits in the NSE/BSE order book and executes only if the market reaches your price. For example, if TCS is trading at ₹3,800 but you only want to buy at ₹3,750, a limit order waits for that level. The trade-off: you control the price but risk non-execution if the stock never reaches your limit. Most retail traders prefer limit orders for better cost control.
