Dividend Yield Dividend Yield

Annual dividend as a percentage of the current share price.

Dividend yield tells you the income return from dividends relative to what you pay for the stock: Dividend Yield = (Annual Dividend per Share ÷ Market Price) × 100. A stock priced at ₹500 paying a ₹20 annual dividend has a yield of 4%. High-yield PSU and infrastructure stocks on NSE attract income-focused investors. Keep in mind that a rising yield caused by a falling share price can be a distress signal rather than a bargain, so check whether the dividend is sustainable.
