Divergence occurs when price and a momentum oscillator such as RSI or MACD move in opposite directions. Bullish divergence: price makes a lower low but the indicator makes a higher low — selling pressure is waning. Bearish divergence: price makes a higher high but the indicator makes a lower high — upward momentum is fading. On NSE daily charts, a stock hitting a 52-week high while RSI fails to confirm is a classic warning to tighten stops.
