Depository Depository
An organisation that holds securities in electronic form on behalf of investors. एक संस्था जो निवेशकों की ओर से securities को electronic रूप में hold करती है।
A depository is an institution that holds financial securities electronically, enabling safe transfer and settlement without physical share certificates. India has two depositories: NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited), promoted by NSE, and CDSL (Central Depository Services Limited), promoted by BSE. Investors do not interact with depositories directly; they access them through a Depository Participant. Both depositories are regulated by SEBI and guarantee settlement finality for every exchange-traded transaction.
depository एक ऐसी संस्था है जो financial securities को electronically hold करती है और बिना physical share certificates के सुरक्षित transfer तथा settlement संभव बनाती है। भारत में दो depositories हैं: NSDL (National Securities Depository Limited), जिसे NSE ने promote किया है, और CDSL (Central Depository Services Limited), जिसे BSE ने। निवेशक depositories से सीधे नहीं, बल्कि किसी Depository Participant के ज़रिये जुड़ते हैं। दोनों SEBI द्वारा regulated हैं और exchange पर हुए हर सौदे के settlement की गारंटी देते हैं।
