Brokerage is the commission a stockbroker earns for executing trades on your behalf on NSE or BSE. Full-service brokers typically charge a percentage of the trade value, while discount brokers (like Zerodha or Groww) charge a flat fee per order or zero on delivery trades — exact rates vary by broker and plan. Brokerage is levied on both the buy leg and the sell leg of a trade. For active intraday or F&O traders, brokerage can compound quickly and should be factored in when calculating the break-even on any trade.
